Dictator
Un dictator este un conducător care deține autoritate absolută. Un stat condus de un dictator este numit dictatură. Cuvântul a provenit din titlul de magistrat din Roma antică numit de Senat pentru a conduce republica în momente de urgență. Ca și termenul "tiran" și, într-o mai mică măsură, "autocrat", "dictatorul" a ajuns să fie folosit aproape exclusiv ca termen non-titular pentru o regulă opresivă, chiar abuzivă, totuși a avut o utilizare titulară rară modernă. În termeni moderni, termenul "dictator" este utilizat în general pentru a descrie un lider care deține și / sau abuzează de o putere extraordinară de putere personală, în special puterea de a face legi fără o reținere efectivă de către o adunare legislativă.
