Globalizarea este procesul de integrare internațională care rezultă din schimbul de opinii, produse, idei și alte aspecte ale culturii. Avansurile în infrastructura de transport și telecomunicații, inclusiv creșterea telegrafului și a posterității acestuia pe Internet, sunt factori majori ai globalizării, generând o interdependență între activitățile economice și culturale. Deși cercetătorii pun originea globalizării în vremurile moderne, alții își urmăresc istoria cu mult înainte de epoca europeană a descoperirii și a călătoriilor către Lumea Nouă. Unii chiar urmăresc originile până la cel de-al treilea mileniu î.en. La sfârșitul secolului al XIX-lea și începutul secolului al XX-lea, legătura dintre economiile și culturile lumii a crescut foarte repede. Termenul de globalizare a fost folosit din ce în ce mai mult de la mijlocul anilor 1980 și mai ales de la mijlocul anilor 1990. În 2000, Fondul Monetar Internațional a identificat patru aspecte fundamentale ale globalizării: comerțul și tranzacțiile, mișcările de capital și de investiții, migrația și mișcarea oamenilor și diseminarea cunoștințelor.
Definiția globalization în dicționarul Engleză
Prima definiție a globalizării în dicționar este procesul care permite piețelor financiare și de investiții să funcționeze la nivel internațional, în mare parte ca urmare a dereglementării și a comunicării îmbunătățite. O altă definiție a globalizării este apariția, începând cu anii 1980, a unei singure piețe mondiale dominate de companii multinaționale, ceea ce a dus la diminuarea capacității guvernelor naționale de a-și controla economiile. Globalizarea este, de asemenea, procesul prin care o companie, etc, se extinde pentru a opera pe plan internațional.
