Un umanoid este ceva care are o aparență asemănătoare unei ființe umane. Termenul a apărut pentru prima dată în 1912 pentru a se referi la fosile care erau asemănătoare morfologic cu, dar nu identice cu cele ale scheletului uman. Deși această utilizare a fost folosită în științe în cea mai mare parte a secolului al XX-lea, este considerată acum rară.
