În măsurătorile geometrice, lungimea este cea mai lungă dimensiune a unui obiect. În Sistemul Internațional de Cantități, lungimea este orice cantitate cu distanța de dimensiune. În alte contexte, "lungimea" este dimensiunea măsurată a unui obiect. De exemplu, este posibil să se taie o lungime a unui fir care este mai mică decât grosimea firului.
