Mango
Mango-ul este un fruct de sâmburi de piatră, aparținând genului Mangifera, format din numeroși pomi fructiferi tropicali, cultivați în principal pentru fructele comestibile. Majoritatea acestor specii se găsesc în natură ca niște mango salbatice. Toți aparțin familiei de plante cu flori Anacardiaceae. Mango este originar din sudul și sud-estul Asiei, de unde a fost distribuit în întreaga lume pentru a deveni unul dintre cele mai cultivate fructe din tropice. Cea mai mare concentrație de gen Mangifera este situată în partea de vest a mării și în Birmania și India. În timp ce alte specii Mangifera sunt cultivate pe o bază mai locală, Mangifera indica - "mango comun" sau "mango indian" - este singurul copac de mango frecvent cultivat în multe regiuni tropicale și subtropicale. A provenit din India și din Birmania. Acesta este fructul național al Indiei și Filipine și pomul național al Bangladeshului.
