Medicina este domeniul științelor aplicate legate de arta vindecării prin diagnosticarea, tratamentul și prevenirea bolilor. Acesta cuprinde o varietate de practici de îngrijire a sănătății care au evoluat pentru a menține și restabili sănătatea prin prevenirea și tratarea bolilor la om. Medicina contemporană aplică științele biomedicale, cercetarea biomedicală, genetica și tehnologia medicală pentru diagnosticarea, tratarea și prevenirea rănilor și a bolilor, de obicei prin medicație sau chirurgie, dar și prin terapii atât de diverse precum psihoterapia, tracțiune, proteze, biologici, produse farmaceutice, radiații ionizante, printre altele. Cuvântul medicină este derivat din ars medicina latină, adică arta vindecării.
Definiția medicine în dicționarul Engleză
Prima definiție a medicamentelor din dicționar este orice medicament sau remediu pentru utilizare în tratarea, prevenirea sau ameliorarea simptomelor bolii. O altă definiție a medicamentelor este știința prevenirii, diagnosticării, atenuării sau vindecării bolii. Medicina este, de asemenea, orice ramură ne-chirurgicală a științei medicale.
