Parfleche
O parfleche este o pungă de hârtie naturală americană, folosită în mod obișnuit pentru păstrarea cărnii uscate și a pemmicanului. Cuvântul a fost folosit inițial de comercianții de blănuri din Franța. Acesta derivă din francezul "parer", care înseamnă "parry" sau "apăra", și "flèche" însemnând "săgeata", așa cum se numește, pentru că pielea era destul de rezistentă pentru a fi folosit ca scut. Pungile originale aveau grafice care erau de fapt hărți, reprezentări geografice generale ale pământului înconjurător. Râul, ca un cerc al vieții și al munților, au fost cele mai comune trăsături.
