Perl
Perl este o familie de limbi de programare de nivel înalt, de uz general, interpretate și dinamice. Limbile din această familie includ Perl 5 și Perl 6. Deși Perl nu este oficial un acronim, există diverse backronyms în uz, cum ar fi: Extragerea practică și limbajul de raportare. Perl a fost inițial dezvoltată de Larry Wall în 1987 ca limbaj de scripting Unix cu scop general pentru a facilita procesarea rapoartelor. De atunci, a suferit numeroase modificări și revizuiri. Ultima revizuire stabilă majoră a Perl 5 este de 5.20, lansată în mai 2014. Perl 6, care a început ca un redesign al Perl 5 în 2000, a evoluat în cele din urmă într-o limbă separată. Ambele limbi continuă să fie dezvoltate independent de diferite echipe de dezvoltare și împrumută liber idei una de cealaltă.
