Prusia
Prusia (germană: Preußen (help · info)) a fost un regat german și un stat istoric provenind din Ducatul Prusiei și Margraviatul din Brandenburg și centrat pe regiunea Prusiei. Timp de secole, Casa Hohenzollern a condus Prusia, extinderea cu succes a mărimii sale printr-o armată neobișnuit de bine organizată și eficientă. Prusia a format istoria Germaniei, cu capitalul ei în Berlin după 1451. În 1871, statele germane s-au unit în crearea imperiului german sub conducerea prusacilor. În noiembrie 1918, monarhiile au fost desființate, iar nobilimea și-a pierdut puterea politică. Prusia a fost efectiv eliminată în 1932 și abolită în mod oficial în 1947. Numele Prusiei provine de la vechii prusaci. În secolul al XIII-lea, cruciații germani, Cavalerii Teutoni, au cucerit "Prusia Veche". În 1308, Cavalerii Teutoni au cucerit regiunea poloneză din fosta Polonie cu Gdańsk (Danzig). Statul lor monastic a fost în mare parte germanizat prin imigrația din Germania Centrală și de Vest, iar în sud a fost polonizat de coloniștii din Masovia.
