O redoubt este un sistem de fortarete sau fort, care constă, de obicei, dintr-o amplasare defensivă închisă în afara unui fort mai mare, de obicei bazându-se pe lucrări de terasament, deși altele sunt construite din piatră sau cărămidă. Este menită să protejeze soldații din afara liniei principale de apărare și poate fi o structură permanentă sau o fortificație temporară construită în grabă. Cuvântul înseamnă "un loc de retragere". Redoubții au constituit o componentă a strategiilor militare ale majorității imperiilor europene în perioada colonială, în special în lucrările exterioare ale fortărelor stilului Vauban, devenite populare în secolul al XVII-lea, deși conceptul de reducții a existat încă din perioada medievală. O redoubt diferă de o redare prin faptul că redanul este deschis în spate, în timp ce redoubt-ul a fost considerat o lucrare închisă. Apariția războiului mobil în secolul al XX-lea a diminuat, în general, importanța apărării pozițiilor statice și a războiului de asediu.
