Rwanda, oficial Republica Rwanda, este un stat suveran în Africa Centrală și de Est. Situat la câțiva grade sud de Ecuator, Rwanda este mărginit de Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi și Republica Democratică Congo. Rwanda se află în regiunea Marilor Lacuri din Africa și este foarte înaltă; geografia sa dominată de munții din vest și de savana la est, cu numeroase lacuri în întreaga țară. Clima țării este temperată până la subtropică, cu două sezoane ploioase și două sezoane uscate în fiecare an. Populația este tânără și predominant rurală, cu o densitate printre cele mai înalte din Africa. Rwandanii formează trei grupuri: Hutu, Tutsi și Twa. Twa sunt un popor păgâtor care locuiește în pădure și coboară din cei mai vechi locuitori ai Rwandei.
