Consecință logică
Consecința logică este unul dintre cele mai fundamentale concepte din logică. Este relația dintre afirmații care este adevărată atunci când o "logică" din unul sau mai multe altele. Un argument logic valabil este unul în care concluziile rezultă din premisele sale, iar concluziile sale sunt consecințele premiselor sale. Analiza filosofică a consecințelor logice implică întrebarea "în ce sens rezultă o concluzie din premisele sale?" și "ce înseamnă pentru ca o concluzie să fie o consecință a premiselor?" Toată logica filosofică poate fi considerată ca furnizând conturi ale naturii consecințelor logice, precum și ale adevărului logic. Consecința logică este considerată a fi necesară și formală, cu exemple explicite folosind modele și dovezi. O teză este considerată a fi o consecință logică a unui set de propoziții pentru o anumită limbă, dacă și numai dacă, folosind doar logica, propoziția trebuie să fie adevărată dacă fiecare propoziție din set ar fi adevărată. Logicienii fac conturi precise ale consecințelor logice cu privire la o anumită limbă prin construirea unui sistem deductiv pentru sau prin formalizarea semanticii intenționate.
