Tlingit
Tlingit este un popor indigen din Pacificul de Nord-Vest al Americii de Nord. Numele lor pentru ei înșiși este Lingít, adică "Oamenii Mareelor". Numele rus Koloshi sau numele german Koulischen asociat poate fi întâlnit referindu-se la oamenii din literatura istorică mai veche, cum ar fi harta lui Sheikhov din 1796 a Americii ruse. Tlingit este o societate matrilineală care sa dezvoltat în pădurile tropicale temperate din coasta sudică a Alaska și în arhipelagul Alexander. Tlingit a menținut o cultură complexă de vânători și culegători bazată pe gestionarea semi-sedentară a pescuitului. Un grup intern, cunoscut sub numele de Inland Tlingit, locuiește în partea de nord-vest a provinciei British Columbia și pe teritoriul sudic Yukon din Canada.
