Twitter este un serviciu on-line de social networking și microblogging care permite utilizatorilor să trimită și să citească mesaje scurte de 140 de caractere numite "tweets". Utilizatorii accesează Twitter prin interfața site-ului web, SMS-ul sau aplicația pentru dispozitive mobile. Twitter Inc. are sediul în San Francisco și are birouri în New York City, Boston, Austin și Detroit. Twitter a fost creat în martie 2006 de către Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone și Noah Glass și până în iulie 2006, site-ul a fost lansat.
