Unitatea Zip este un sistem de stocare floppy cu capacitate medie, care a fost introdus de Iomega la sfârșitul anului 1994. Inițial, discurile Zip au fost lansate cu o capacitate de 100 MB, însă versiunile ulterioare au crescut această valoare la 250 MB și apoi la 750 MB. Formatul a devenit cel mai popular dintre produsele superfloppy care au completat o nișă în piața de depozitare portabilă din anii 1990. Cu toate acestea, nu a fost niciodată suficient de popular pentru a înlocui discheta de 3,5 inci și nici nu putea să se potrivească cu dimensiunea de stocare disponibilă pe CD-urile rescriptibile și pe DVD-urile reinscriptibile ulterioare. Dispozitivele flash USB s-au dovedit a fi cel mai bun mediu de stocare reinscriptibil în rândul publicului larg, datorită aproape ubicuității porturilor USB de pe computerele personale și în scurt timp datorită dimensiunilor mult mai mari de stocare oferite. Dispozitivele Zip au scăpat din favoarea depozitării portabile în masă la începutul anilor 2000. Marca Zip a acoperit ulterior scriitorii de CD-uri interne și externe, cunoscute sub numele de Zip-650 sau Zip-CD, care nu aveau nicio legătură cu unitatea Zip.
