Ummah
Ummah este un cuvânt și o expresie din arabă, care înseamnă: "societate" sau "națiune". Acest cuvânt vine de la cuvintele amma-yaummu-ului tău, care pot însemna: "a merge", "a converti" sau a "emula". De la aceeași rădăcină se formează și: um, ceea ce înseamnă "mamă" și preot, ceea ce înseamnă "lider". În prezent, Organizația Conferinței Islamice este o organizație internațională majoră a cărei apartenență cuprinde țări cu populații musulmane.
