Inkardierung und Excardination

In der römisch-katholischen Kirche bezieht sich die Inkarnation auf die Situation eines Klerusmitglieds, das unter die Zuständigkeit eines bestimmten Bischofs oder eines anderen kirchlichen Vorgesetzten gestellt wird. Sein antonym, excardination, bedeutet, dass ein Mitglied des Klerus von einer Gerichtsbarkeit befreit worden ist und auf ein anderes übertragen wird. Beide Begriffe stammen aus dem lateinischen cardo, aus dem auch das Wort Kardinal abgeleitet wird - daher die lateinischen Verben incardinare und excardinare. Der Zweck der Inkonsination ist, sicherzustellen, dass kein Kleriker, ob Diakon oder Priester, "freiberuflich" ist, ohne einen klaren kirchlichen Vorgesetzten, dem er verantwortlich ist.
