Repercussion ist das zweite Album von The dB's. Wie sein Vorgänger, Stands for Decibels, war das Album kommerziell erfolglos, hat aber seitdem ein Kultfolger entwickelt und wird nun wohl genauso klassisch wie Stands for Decibels von beiden Fans von Power Pop und Rock Fans im Allgemeinen angesehen. Die dB's begannen nach einer kurzen Tour im Mai 1981 das Album aufzunehmen. Chris Stamey und Peter Holsapple, die Sänger / Gitarristen der Band, hatten genug Material fast sofort, um ein neues Album zu beginnen. Stamey und Holsapple endete jeweils sechs Songs auf dem Album. Wie schon im letzten Album, standen Stameys Lieder zu mehr experimentellen Melodien und Rhythmen, während Holsapples Lieder traditioneller in einer Pop-Vene waren. Das Album war, wie sein Vorgänger, sehr bescheiden produziert, aber es gab einige Beweise für das Wachstum in der dBs 'aufgenommenen Ton. Die erste Spur, die "Living a Lie" von Holsapple, zeigte eine Hornpartie und klang nicht anders als eine alte Seelenrekord. Das Album wurde von Scott Litt produziert, der dem Album einen etwas tieferen Klang verlieh und Sachen wie Reverb auf den Trommeln nutzte, die im Debüt nicht anwesend waren.
