Schildpatt oder Schildkröte Schale ist ein Material aus den Schalen der größeren Arten von Schildkröte und Schildkröte, vor allem die Habicht-Schildkröte, die eine gefährdete Art ist vor allem wegen seiner Ausbeutung für das Material. Die große Größe, die feine Farbe und die ungewöhnliche Form der Falzbills machen es besonders gut. Es wurde gewöhnlich in dünnen Scheiben oder Stücken verwendet, bei der Herstellung einer Vielzahl von Gegenständen wie Kämmen, kleinen Schachteln und Rahmen und Inlays in Möbeln und anderen Gegenständen, Rahmen für Brillen, Gitarren-Picks und Stricknadeln. Trotz teurer, war Schildpatt attraktiv für Hersteller und Verbraucher wegen seiner schönen fleckigen Aussehen, seine Haltbarkeit und seine organische Wärme gegen die Haut. 1973 wurde der Handel mit Schildpatt weltweit unter CITES verboten. Das Material wurde bereits oft in gefärbten Horn, Plastik und anderen Materialien nachgeahmt, und das geht weiter. Die synthetische Delrin wurde speziell für Gitarren-Picks verwendet.
