Leishmanien

Leishmania is a genus of scourge-bearing protozoa that multiplies in the blood in macrophages. Leishmanias live obligatorily as intracellular parasites with a change of host between insects and vertebrate animals. The disease caused by Leishmania is called leishmaniasis. Als Leishmanien bezeichnet man eine Gattung von geißeltragenden Protozoen, die sich im Blut in Makrophagen vermehren. Leishmanien leben obligat als intrazelluläre Parasiten mit einem Wirtswechsel zwischen Insekten und Wirbeltieren. Das durch Leishmanien hervorgerufene Krankheitsbild bezeichnet man als Leishmaniose.
