Federschake

Federschake

The Federschake connects the spring package with the frame in the case of railway wagons. By means of the hooks, the length extension of the leaf spring is compensated for under different load conditions. After simple links first established the connection, later roll hooks were used which could additionally accommodate lateral displacements. For the first time in 1894 rectangular hooks were used, which had better damping properties due to their larger friction surfaces. From 1948 onwards, double-hooks were increasingly used in UIC internationally standardized freight cars. In this case, two pairs of rectangular pairs are connected to one another by means of an intermediate piece and effect a higher damping.
