WHAT DOES CATERVA MEAN IN SPANISH?

Caterva

Caterva is a novel by Argentine writer Juan Filloy, written in 1937. Recognized by many critics as his masterpiece, it was admired by such authors as Leopoldo Marechal or Julio Cortázar. It narrates the adventures of seven "linyeras" of the 30's, who discuss life and ethics, politics and rebellion, aesthetics and love, with a dazzling depth and erudition. The seven characters move on freight trains advancing over the city of Córdoba, and the novel also has a conspiratorial context that relates to the seven crazy Roberto Arlt. They are clearly locateable the police of the government of Agustín P. Justo, the conservative "order" and the action of the "terrorism" of the time. It is considered the masterpiece of Filloy along with Op Oloop.
