Elections

Elecciones

Elections, in politics, is a decision-making process where voters choose from among a plurality of candidates to hold political office in a representative democracy. There are general elections and local elections at municipal or regional level. In some political systems other positions are also subject to popular election. It is considered that there are free elections when the vote is issued in circumstances of freedom, that is, that it is not subject to coercion and its meaning is not adulterated; In addition to allowing all citizens access on an equal footing. Electoral Observation is the discipline in charge of avoiding fraud in the elections. One mechanism that alters this equality is the manipulation of the size and distribution of constituencies. If popular sovereignty is recognized, all people have the right to both active suffrage and passive suffrage.
