Collecting dog - in English: Retriever - is as it is called a type of hunting dog that recovers prey for a hunter. Usually, hunting dogs are divided into three main categories: retriever or collection, dog and pointer dog or sample. The retrievers were bred mainly to recover the birds or other prey and return them to the hunter without suffering damage. Although spaniels and other pointer breeds routinely recover prey, and many retrievers are expert in hunting for prey, bill collectors distinguish themselves in that retrieval is their primary function, and they are specialized in pen hunting and in water. As a result, the retriever breeds are bred with what is known, in hunter slang, "soft or soft mouth." A soft mouth refers to the willingness of the dog to carry the prey into its mouth without biting or playing with it. The "hard mouth" is a serious fault in a hunting dog and is a habit very difficult to correct. A dog with a hard mouth makes the prey unpresentable or in the worst case, inedible.

Perro cobrador —en inglés: Retriever— es como se denomina a un tipo de perro de caza que recupera presa para un cazador. Por lo general, los perros de caza se dividen en tres categorías principales: perro perdiguero o de cobro, perro de aguas y perro pointer o de muestra. Los retrievers fueron criados principalmente para recuperar las aves u otras presas y devolverlos al cazador sin sufrir daños. Aunque los spaniels y otras razas pointer recuperan rutinariamente presas, y muchos perros perdigueros son expertos en la búsqueda de la presa, los cobradores se distinguen en que la recuperación es su función principal, y están especializados en la caza de pluma y en agua.
