Won

Won

Won is the official currency of South Korea and North Korea. However, their changes are not the same. ¹This is the exchange rate as of April 6, 2009. Historically, the won was divided into 100 jeon. In South Korea they are no longer used, because the smallest amount of money they normally change hands is 100 won; And the smallest coin in circulation is 10 won. Koreans also use the word jeon to translate the words "penny" and "cent", and in this context can accompany bul, meaning "dollar."
