Strobilation or transverse scission is a form of asexual reproduction consisting of a spontaneous and transverse segmentation of the body. This phase of strobyl is observed in some cnidarians and helminths. This mode of reproduction is characterized by a high rate of progeny, which is of particular importance in parasites such as tapeworm.
