Amblycheila Cicindela Manticora Megacephala Omus among others Cicindela Cicindela chinensis Cicindelas, also known as beetle-tiger, constitute a group of coleoptera known for their predatory habits. In taxonomic terms, they can be considered as either family or the subfamily Cicindelinae of the family Carabidae. There are about 2 100 known species. Some sources refer to the name cincinnati, but everything leads one to believe that it is lapse. They are characterized by prominent eyes and thin and long limbs. They are all predators, both in adult and larval stages. The genus Cicindela has a wide distribution throughout the world. Some genera have diurnal habits, others have nocturnal habits. Some have a bright and colorful coating, others have a uniformly black body. The genus Manticora, native to the deserts of southern Africa, has the largest specimens.
