Tauoca

Tauoca, taoca, toca, tanoca or pinto-do-mato is a bird of the Formicariidae family, native from southern Mexico to the Amazon. They lay two white eggs in nests built on hollow trunks lined with leaves. They feed on various insects, and especially on ants. It has no sexual dimorphism. They generally measure 18 to 19 cm in length, weighing about 59 g. His singing consists of a loud whistle followed by two to ten increasingly weak whistles. Tauoca, taoca, taioca, tanoca ou pinto-do-mato é uma ave da família dos formicariídeos, nativa do sul do México até à Amazónia. Fazem a postura de dois ovos brancos em ninhos construídos em troncos ocos, forrados de folhas. Alimentam-se de vários insectos e, especialmente, de formigas. Não apresenta dimorfismo sexual. Medem geralmente de 18 a 19 cm de comprimento, pesando cerca de 59 g. O seu canto é composto de um assobio forte seguido de dois a dez assobios cada vez mais fracos.
