Consanguinidad
La consanguinidad es la propiedad de ser del mismo parentesco que otra persona. En este sentido, la consanguinidad es la cualidad de ser descendiente del mismo antepasado que otra persona. Las leyes de muchas jurisdicciones establecen grados de consanguinidad en relación con relaciones sexuales prohibidas y fiestas matrimoniales o si una persona dada hereda bienes cuando una persona fallecida no ha dejado un testamento. El grado de consanguinidad relativa puede ilustrarse con una tabla de consanguinidad, en la que cada nivel de consanguinidad lineal aparece como una fila, y los individuos con una relación consangüínea colateral comparten la misma fila. El Sistema del Nudo es una notación numérica que define la consanguinidad.
