La curruca de jardín es un ave común y generalizada pequeña que cría en la mayor parte de Europa y en Asia occidental. Es una curruca normal, de alas largas y de cola larga con partes superiores marrones y partes inferiores blancas opacas; Los sexos son similares y los juveniles se asemejan a los adultos. Sus dos subespecies difieren sólo ligeramente y se cruzan donde sus rangos se superponen. Debido a su falta de rasgos distintivos, esta especie se puede confundir con un número de otras currucas no rayadas. La rica canción melódica de la curruca es semejante a la del casco negro, su pariente más cercano, que compite con él por territorio al anidar en el mismo bosque. El hábitat de cría preferido en Eurasia es un bosque abierto con cubierta baja y densa para anidar; A pesar de su nombre, los jardines son raramente ocupados por este pequeño pájaro paseriforme. El embrague de cuatro o cinco huevos blotched de la crema o del blanco se pone en un nido robusto cup-shaped construido cerca de la tierra y ocultado por la vegetación densa. Los huevos se incuban durante 11-12 días. Los pollitos son altricial, eclosionando desnudos y con los ojos cerrados, y son alimentados por ambos padres. Se liberan unos 10 días después de la eclosión.
