En la costura y la confección, un volante, volante, o furbelow es una tira de la tela, del cordón o de la cinta firmemente recolectada o plisada en un borde y aplicada a una ropa, lecho, o la otra materia textil como forma de recorte. El flounce del término es un tipo particular de la manipulación de la tela que crea una mirada similar pero con menos bulto. El término se deriva de términos anteriores de frounce o fronce. La profundidad de la curva, así como la anchura de la tela determina la profundidad de la volante. Un godet es una cuña de círculo que se puede insertar en un volante para profundizar aún más la onda flotante externa sin añadir volumen adicional en el punto de unión al cuerpo de la prenda, tal como en el dobladillo, el cuello o el manguito. Las colmenas aparecieron en los escotes de la cadena del traje de las chemises llenas en el siglo XV, evolucionaron en el ruff separado-construido del siglo XVI. Los volantes y los volantes seguían siendo una forma de moda de recortar, de vez en cuando en los tiempos modernos.
