Aceh; Atjeh; Ou Acheh est une région spéciale de l'Indonésie. La province est située à l'extrémité nord de Sumatra. Sa capitale est Banda Aceh. Il est proche des îles Andaman et Nicobar de l'Inde et séparé d'eux par la mer d'Andaman. On pense que Aceh a été l'endroit où la propagation de l'islam en Indonésie a commencé, et a été un élément clé de la propagation de l'islam en Asie du Sud-Est. Au début du dix-septième siècle, le Sultanat d'Aceh était l'état le plus riche, le plus puissant et le plus cultivé dans la région du détroit de Malacca.
