Calife
Le calife est le chef de l'Etat dans un califat, et le titre pour le souverain de la Ummah islamique, une communauté islamique gouvernée par la Shari'ah. Le mot dérive de l'arabe خليفة Khalīfa. Après la mort de Muhammad en 632, les premiers chefs de la nation musulmane s'appelaient Khalifat Rasul Allah, les successeurs politiques du messager de Dieu. Certains universitaires préfèrent transiter le terme Khalīfah. Un Calipha est soit un calife féminin, soit l'épouse ou la veuve d'un calife. Il y avait un cas connu dans l'histoire qu'un calipha gouvernait un caliphe: Sitt al-Mulk était régent du califat fatimide de 1021 à 1023. Certains caliphas, tels que Zaynab an-Nafzawiyyah et Al-Khayzuran bint Atta, ont exercé une grande influence dans Les tribunaux de leurs maris.
