Blason
Un blason est un design héraldique unique sur un écusson, un surcoat ou un tabard. Un surcoat, et par la suite un armoiries a été utilisé par les chevaliers médiévaux pour couvrir, protéger et identifier le porteur. Ainsi, on les appelle parfois arsenal de manteau. Les armoiries sur un écusson constituent l'élément central de la réalisation héraldique complète qui consiste en un bouclier, des partisans, une crête et un slogan. Le design est un symbole unique à une personne ou à une famille, une société ou un état. De tels écrans sont communément appelés armoiries, armoiries, dispositifs héraldiques ou simplement des armes. Parfois, le terme «armoiries» est utilisé pour désigner l'accomplissement complet, mais cette utilisation est incorrecte dans le sens strict de la terminologie héraldique. Les anciens Romains utilisaient des insignes similaires sur leurs boucliers, mais ces unités militaires identifiées plutôt que des individus. La première preuve d'armoiries médiévales se trouve dans la tapisserie de Bayeux du 11ème siècle, où certains des combattants portent des boucliers peints avec des croix. Les armes d'armes ont été utilisées en général par les seigneurs féodaux et les chevaliers dans le combat au 12ème siècle.
