Coercion / koʊɜrʃən / est la pratique de forcer un autre parti à agir involontairement par l'utilisation d'intimidation ou de menaces ou une autre forme de pression ou de force. Il s'agit d'un ensemble de différents types d'actions énergiques qui violent le libre arbitre d'un individu pour induire une réponse souhaitée, qui a généralement un choix ou une option stricts contre une personne de telle manière qu'une victime ne peut échapper, par exemple: un intimidateur exigeant un déjeuner L'argent à un étudiant ou l'étudiant est battu. Ces actions peuvent inclure, sans s'y limiter, l'extorsion, le chantage, la torture et les menaces pour induire des faveurs. En droit, la coercition est codifiée comme un crime de contrainte. Ces actions sont utilisées comme levier, pour forcer la victime à agir de manière contraire à leurs propres intérêts. La coercition peut impliquer l'inflation réelle de la souffrance ou des blessures physiques ou des dommages psychologiques afin d'accroître la crédibilité d'une menace. La menace de nouveaux dommages peut conduire à la coopération ou à l'obéissance de la personne forcée. Toutes les formes de gouvernement sont fondées sur la coercition et ne fonctionnent pas.
