Conformité
La conformité est l'acte consistant à faire correspondre les attitudes, les croyances et les comportements aux normes de groupe. Les normes sont des règles implicites, non-dites, partagées par un groupe d'individus, qui guident leurs interactions avec les autres. Cette tendance à la conformité se produit en petits groupes et / ou en société dans son ensemble, et peut résulter d'influences inconscientes subtiles, ou de pressions sociales directes et ouvertes. La conformité peut se produire en présence d'autres, ou lorsqu'un individu est seul. Par exemple, les gens ont tendance à suivre les normes sociales lorsqu'ils mangent ou regardent la télévision, même lorsqu'ils sont seuls. Les gens se conforment souvent à un désir de sécurité au sein d'un groupe - généralement un groupe d'âge, de culture, de religion ou de statut éducatif similaire. On parle souvent de «pensée collective»: un modèle de pensée caractérisé par l'auto-déception, la fabrication forcée du consentement et la conformité aux valeurs et à l'éthique des groupes, qui ignore l'évaluation réaliste d'autres cours d'action. Le non-respect de la conformité comporte le risque de rejet social. La conformité est souvent associée à l'adolescence et à la culture de la jeunesse, mais affecte fortement les humains de tous âges.
