Contraposition
Dans la logique, la contraposition est une loi, qui dit qu'un état conditionnel est logiquement équivalent à son contrapositif. Le contrepositif de la déclaration a son antécédient et consécutivement inversé et renversé: le contrepositif est ainsi. Par exemple, la proposition «Tous les chauves-souris sont des mammifères» peut être redressée comme conditionnelle «Si quelque chose est une chauve-souris, c'est un mammifère». Maintenant, la loi dit que la déclaration est identique à la contrapositive: «Si quelque chose n'est pas un mammifère, alors ce n'est pas une chauve-souris». Le contrepositif peut être comparé à trois autres relations entre les déclarations conditionnelles: ▪ Inversion:. "Si quelque chose n'est pas une chauve-souris, alors ce n'est pas un mammifère." Contrairement au contrepositif, la valeur de vérité de l'inverse ne dépend pas du fait que la proposition originale soit ou non vraie, comme en témoignent ici. L'inverse ici n'est clairement pas vrai. ▪ Conversion:. "Si quelque chose est un mammifère, alors c'est une chauve-souris". L'inverse est en fait le contrepositif de l'inverse et a toujours la même valeur de vérité que l'inverse, ce qui n'est pas nécessairement le même que celui de la proposition originale. ▪ Négation :.
