La preuve corroborante est une preuve qui tend à soutenir une proposition qui est déjà étayée par des preuves initiales, confirmant ainsi la proposition. Par exemple, W, un témoin, témoigne qu'elle a vu X conduire son automobile dans une voiture verte. Pendant ce temps, Y, un autre témoin, témoigne que lorsqu'il a examiné la voiture de X, plus tard ce jour-là, il a remarqué une peinture verte sur son garde-boue. Ou il peut y avoir des preuves corroborantes liées à une certaine source, telles que ce qui fait penser à un auteur en raison de la preuve fournie par des témoins ou des objets. Un autre type de preuve corroborante vient de l'utilisation de la méthode baconienne, à savoir la méthode d'accord, la méthode de différence et la méthode des variations concomitantes.
