Hydathode
Une hydathode est un type de tissu sécrétoire dans les feuilles, habituellement trouvé dans les angiospermes, qui sécrète de l'eau à travers des pores dans l'épiderme ou la marge des feuilles, typiquement au bout d'une dent marginale ou d'une denture. Les hydathodes sont principalement présents dans les plantes aquatiques et dans certaines plantes herbacées qui poussent dans des endroits humides. Ils ont probablement évolué à partir de stomates modifiés et sont reliés au système vasculaire de la plante par un faisceau vasculaire. Les hydathodes sont généralement observés dans la laitue, la jacinthe d'eau, la rose, le baume et bien d'autres espèces. Les hydathodes sont constitués d'un groupe de cellules vivantes avec de nombreux espaces intercellulaires remplis d'eau, mais peu ou pas de chloroplastes, et représentent des extrémités modifiées. Ces cellules s'ouvrent dans une ou plusieurs chambres sous-épidermiques. Ceux-ci, à leur tour, communiquent avec l'extérieur à travers une stomie à ciel ouvert ou des pores ouverts. La stomie d'eau ressemble structurellement à une stomie ordinaire, mais elle est habituellement plus grande et a perdu le pouvoir de mouvement. Les hydathodes sont impliqués dans le processus de la guttation, dans lequel la pression positive du xylème provoque l'exsudation des liquides des pores.
