Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Audio (information d'aide), né Mahomedali Jinnahbhai, 25 décembre 1876 - 11 septembre 1948) était un avocat, un politicien et le fondateur du Pakistan. Jinnah a été le chef de la Ligue musulmane de toute l'Inde de 1913 jusqu'à l'indépendance du Pakistan le 14 août 1947 et, en tant que premier gouverneur général du Pakistan, de l'indépendance jusqu'à sa mort. Il est vénéré au Pakistan en tant que Quaid-i-Azam (Grand Chef) et Baba-i-Qaum (Père de la nation). Son anniversaire est observé en vacances nationales. Né à Karachi et formé comme avocat au Lincoln's Inn à Londres, Jinnah a pris de l'importance dans le Congrès national indien au cours des deux premières décennies du XXe siècle. Dans ces premières années de sa carrière politique, Jinnah a préconisé l'unité hindou-musulmane, aidant à façonner le Pacte de Lucknow de 1916 entre le Congrès et la Ligue musulmane de l'Inde, un parti dans lequel Jinnah était également devenu proéminent. Jinnah est devenu un chef de file dans la All India Home Rule League et a proposé un plan de réforme constitutionnelle de quatorze points pour sauvegarder les droits politiques des musulmans si l'Inde britannique unie devenait indépendante.
