Mandaeism ou Mandaeanism (Modern Mandaic: Manda'iūtā (מנדעיותא); Arabic: مندائية Mandā'īyah / Mandā'iyyah) est une religion gnostique: 4: 4 (le manda araméen signifie "la connaissance", de même que la gnose grecque) avec une vision du monde fortement dualiste. Ses adhérents, les Mandaeans, vénèrent Adam, Abel, Seth, Enosh, Noé, Shem, Aram et surtout Jean-Baptiste, mais rejettent Abraham, Moïse et Jésus de Nazareth. Selon la plupart des savants, les Mandaeans ont migré du Levant du Sud vers la Mésopotamie au cours des premiers siècles CE et sont d'origine pré-arabe et pré-islamique. Ils sont des Sémites et parlent un dialecte de l'Aramaïque de l'Est connu sous le nom de Mandaic. Ils pourraient bien être liés aux «Nabatéens d'Irak» qui étaient des habitants pré-Arabes et pré-islamiques païens et arabomes d'origine arabe dans le sud de l'Irak. Les Mandaeans semblent s'être installés dans le nord de la Mésopotamie, mais la religion a été pratiquée principalement autour du Karun inférieur, de l'Euphrate et du Tigre et des rivières qui entourent la voie navigable Shatt-al-Arab, une partie du sud de l'Irak et la province de Khuzestan en Iran. On pense qu'il y a entre 60 000 et 70 000 mandeaux dans le monde entier.
