Saison

Une saison est une division de l'année, marquée par des changements climatiques, l'écologie et les heures de lumière du jour. Les saisons résultent de l'orbite annuelle de la Terre autour du Soleil et de l'inclinaison de l'axe de rotation de la Terre par rapport au plan de l'orbite. Dans les régions tempérées et polaires, les saisons sont marquées par des changements dans l'intensité des rayons du soleil qui atteignent la surface de la Terre, dont les variations peuvent entraîner l'hibernation ou la migration, et les plantes deviennent inactives. En mai, juin et juillet, l'hémisphère nord est exposée à une lumière directe du soleil car l'hémisphère fait face au soleil. Il en va de même pour l'hémisphère sud en novembre, décembre et janvier. C'est l'inclinaison de la Terre qui fait que le Soleil soit plus élevé dans le ciel pendant les mois d'été qui augmentent le flux solaire. Cependant, en raison du décalage saisonnier, juin, juillet et août sont les mois les plus chauds dans l'hémisphère nord et en décembre, janvier et février sont les mois les plus chauds de l'hémisphère sud. Dans les régions tempérées et sous-polaires, quatre saisons de calendrier sont généralement reconnues: printemps, été, automne et hiver.
