Vibrio
Vibrio est un genre de bactéries Gram négatives possédant une forme de tige incurvée, dont plusieurs espèces peuvent provoquer des infections d'origine alimentaire, généralement associées à la consommation de fruits de mer peu cuits. Habituellement trouvé dans l'eau de mer, Vibrio spp. Sont des anaérobies facultatifs qui testent une oxydase positive et ne forment pas de spores. Tous les membres du genre sont mobiles et ont des flagelles polaires avec des gaines. Des phylogénies récentes ont été construites en fonction d'une suite de gènes. Le nom de Vibrio dérive de Filippo Pacini qui a isolé les microorganismes qu'il a appelés «vibrions» chez les patients atteints de choléra en 1854, en raison de leur motilité.
