Serbes - une nation slave du Sud vivant principalement en Serbie, en Bosnie, au Monténégro, en Croatie et aussi en Allemagne, en Autriche, en Suisse, aux États-Unis, au Canada et en Australie. Il y en a environ 12 millions. Ils parlent dans leur langue nationale serbe. La plupart sont orthodoxes. Les Serbes sont divisés en groupes régionaux: Šumadinci, Ere, Vojvođani, Bačvani, Banatani, Bokelji, Sremci, Semberci, Krajišnici, Hercegovci, Torlaci, Šopi et d'autres, mais ce sont des termes régionaux qui couvrent toutes les minorités nationales dans ces régions. Monténégro jusqu'en 1945 ont été considérés comme des Serbes. Les Serbes sorabes ou sorabes sont censés avoir une origine commune avec les Serbes, mais de nos jours rien que la nationalité slave commune et au-delà du nom des Slaves.

Serbowie – naród południowosłowiański mieszkający głównie w Serbii, Bośni, Czarnogórze, Chorwacji a także w Niemczech, Austrii, Szwajcarii, USA, Kanadzie i Australii. Jest ich ogółem około 12 mln. Mówią w swoim języku narodowym serbskim. W większości są wyznawcami prawosławia. Serbowie dzielą się na grupy regionalne: Šumadinci, Ere, Vojvođani, Bačvani, Banaćani, Bokelji, Sremci, Semberci, Krajišnici, Hercegovci, Torlaci, Šopi i inni, ale są to określenia regionalne, które obejmują wszystkie mniejszości narodowe w tych regionach. Czarnogórcy aż do 1945 byli uważani za Serbów. Serbołużyczanie lub Serbowie łużyccy przypuszczalnie mają wspólne pochodzenie z Serbami, ale obecnie nic poza wspólną narodowością słowiańską i poza nazwą ich nie łączy.
