Stras - une imitation de diamant synthétique faite de verre dépoli, verre acrylique ou, de moins en moins, un cristal de montagne dont les murs inférieurs sont couverts d'une substance qui améliore la lueur et d'autres qualités esthétiques. Le nom vient de l'inventeur du bijoutier algérien du 18ème siècle, Georg Friedrich Strasse, qui a versé le métal sur le dessous du verre dépoli. Stras est caractérisé par une lumière élevée et une grande légèreté, mais ces paramètres sont plus mauvais que les paramètres qui caractérisent les vrais diamants. Aussi la résistance aux rayures et donc la durabilité sont beaucoup plus faibles que les pierres précieuses d'origine. À l'heure actuelle, le plus grand fabricant de stras est la société autrichienne Swarovski, qui propose des bracelets sous le nom de «Cristal Swarovski», Elite Crystals et la société tchèque Preciosa.

Stras – syntetyczna imitacja diamentu wykonana z oszlifowanego szkła, szkła akrylowego lub, coraz rzadziej, kryształu górskiego, którego dolne ścianki zostały pokryte substancją poprawiającą blask i inne walory estetyczne. Nazwa pochodzi od wynalazcy, XVIII-wiecznego alzackiego jubilera, Georga Friedricha Strassa, który napylał metal na spodnią stronę oszlifowanego szkła ołowiowego. Stras cechuje się wysokim blaskiem oraz wysoką łamliwością światła, jednak parametry te są gorsze od parametrów, które charakteryzują prawdziwe diamenty. Również odporność na zarysowania, a zatem i trwałość, są dużo niższe niż w oryginalnych kamieniach szlachetnych. Obecnie największym producentem strasu jest austriacka firma Swarovski, oferująca stras pod nazwą handlową "kryształ Swarovskiego", Elite Crystals oraz czeska firma Preciosa.
