Cicuta virosa
Cicuta virosa è una specie di Cicuta, nativo dell'Europa settentrionale e centrale, dell'Asia settentrionale e nord-occidentale dell'America settentrionale. È una pianta erbacea perenne che cresce fino a 1-2 m di altezza. Gli steli sono lisci, ramificanti, gonfiati alla base, viola a righe e cave tranne le partizioni all'incrocio delle foglie e dello stelo. Nella sezione trasversale gli steli hanno un lato piatto e le altre parti sono arrotondate. Le foglie sono alternate, triplicate, solo spesse, a differenza delle foglie di pascolo, in molti altri membri della famiglia Apiaceae. I fiori sono piccoli, bianchi e raggruppati in infiorescenze a forma di ombrello tipiche della famiglia. I molti umbellets fioriti hanno pedicelli disuguali che vanno da 5 a 11 cm lungo durante la fruttificazione. Un liquido oleoso, grasso, si dilata dai tagli ai gambi e alle radici. Questo liquido ha un odore di rango simile a quello dei pastinaca o delle carote. La pianta può essere sbagliata per pastinaca a causa dei suoi raggruppamenti di radici tuberose bianche. Cresce in prati umidi, lungo i ruscelli e altre zone umide e paludose.
