Iuta
L'iuta è una fibra vegetale lunga, morbida e lucida che può essere spinta in filati grossi e forti. Viene prodotto da piante del genere Corchorus, classificato una volta con la famiglia Tiliaceae, più recentemente con Malvaceae ed è ora riclassificata come appartenente alla famiglia Sparrmanniaceae. "Jute" è il nome dell'impianto o della fibra che viene utilizzato per la produzione di telai di tela, hessian o gunny. L'iuto è una delle fibre naturali più convenienti ed è secondo solo al cotone in quantità prodotta e varie utilizzazioni di fibre vegetali. Le fibre di iuta sono composte principalmente dalle cellulosa di materia vegetale e dalla lignina. Cade nella categoria fibra di bast con kenaf, canapa industriale, lino, ramie, ecc. Il termine industriale per la fibra di iuta è iuta cruda. Le fibre sono off-white a brown, e lunghe 1-4 metri. L'iuta è anche chiamata "la fibra d'oro" per il suo colore e il suo elevato valore monetario.
