Genipa americana
Genipa americana é uma espécie de Genipa, nativa do norte da América do Sul, do Caribe e do sul do México, crescendo em florestas tropicais. É comumente chamado de Genipapo ou Huito; O nome alternativo Jagua pode se referir a outras espécies de Genipa também. Para o Inca, era conhecido como hawa ou wituq. Nas ilhas britânicas das Índias Ocidentais, chamava-se caixa de marmelada. É uma pequena árvore que cresce até 15 m de altura. As folhas são opostas, lanceoladas a oblongas, 20-35 cm de comprimento e 10-19 cm de largura, verde escuro brilhante, com uma margem total. As flores são brancas, amarelas ou vermelhas, com uma corola de cinco lobos de 5-6 cm de diâmetro. O fruto é uma baga com sabor a espessura de 5-8 cm de diâmetro.
