Menander era um dramaturgo grego e o representante mais conhecido da nova comédia ateniense. Ele foi o autor de mais de uma centena de comédias e levou o prêmio no festival Lenaia oito vezes. Seu registro na City Dionysia é desconhecido, mas pode ter sido igualmente espectacular. Um dos escritores mais populares da antiguidade, seu trabalho foi perdido na Idade Média e é conhecido na modernidade de forma altamente fragmentada, grande parte do qual foi descoberta no século XX. Apenas uma peça, Dyskolos, sobreviveu quase inteiramente.
