Nova França
Nova França foi a área colonizada pela França na América do Norte durante um período que começou com a exploração do rio São Lourenço por Jacques Cartier em 1534 e terminou com a cessão da Nova França para a Espanha e a Grã-Bretanha em 1763. No seu pico em 1712, O território da Nova França, também conhecido como o Império norte-americano francês ou a Nova França real, passou de Terra Nova às Montanhas Rochosas e da Baía de Hudson ao Golfo do México. O território foi então dividido em cinco colônias, cada uma com sua própria administração: Canadá, Acadia, Hudson Bay, Newfoundland e Louisiana. O Tratado de Utrecht resultou na renúncia de reivindicações francesas ao Acadia continental, à Baía de Hudson e à Terra Nova, e ao estabelecimento da colônia da Île Royale como sucessora da Acadia. A França cedeu o resto da Nova França, exceto as ilhas de São Pedro e Miquelon, para a Grã-Bretanha e a Espanha no Tratado de Paris, que encerrou a Guerra dos Sete Anos.
